If it sounds too good to be true – Beware!

In the current crisis, it appears that young people in particular are being hit hard on the employment front, leaving many of them susceptible to ‘easy-to-earn’ cash scams.

Criminals are targeting 21 to 30 year olds through social media, jobs websites and scam e-mails to recruit ‘money mules’ to help them launder the proceeds of their crimes. The scammers ask anyone recruited to move money for them into different accounts, keeping a sum for themselves. However, many do not realise that the cash they are moving is used to fund serious crime.

It’s always best to be cautious, “if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!”
