VAT Update: Changes to registration details

Requesting changes to registration details to be through online account only

HMRC has announced that from 5th‌‌‌‌‌‌ August‌‌‌‌‌‌ 2024, any request to change your VAT registration details should be made using your VAT online account, and not by using the VAT484 form or any other postal or electronic means.

Why the Change?

HMRC is making things faster, easier, and more secure with this online approach.

Here’s how you benefit:

  • Faster Processing: Online submissions are processed quicker, minimising delays.
  • Enhanced Security: The online platform provides a secure environment for handling your VAT information.
  • Simplified Process: No more worrying about paper forms or potential misplacements.

Don’t Worry, We’ve Got Your Back!

We will already be requesting any required changes to VAT Registration on our clients’ behalf.

If you’re not a client, here’s what we can do for you:

  • We’re Here to Guide You: Our team is familiar with the new online VAT account and happy to walk you through the update process.
  • Support for Everyone: If digital access is a challenge, we can assist you in contacting HMRC for alternative options.

Special Cases Still Require Paperwork

In specific situations, such as taking over another business’s VAT obligations, physical forms might still be necessary. We can advise you on the best course of action in such cases.

Working Together

By working with you, we can ensure a smooth transition to the new online system. Contact us today on 01384 376 964 to discuss your specific needs and ensure your VAT registration stays up-to-date with minimal hassle.
